Tramps is closing. It has been our gaming space for decades. Below is a farewell from Perris Neuman.
As one of our most veteran beards and a true lynchpin of the community, no one is better suited to describe how important Tramps was to us all.
+ + +
While we’re open till Thursday, this was my last weekend at Tramps. The last weekend i’ll ever spend at tramps.
Letting that sink in is hard for me.
I’ve been a patron of tramps since my 12th year on this planet. 5 days after we lock our doors forever, I turn 34.
22 years. That’s a long damn time, isn’t it?
For those of you who came down? I love you. For those of you who didn’t? I love you. For those of you hoisting a glass on Thursday? Those of you feeling this in your core? For those of you who feel like part of your childhood is dying? I’m there with you. 100%.
But Remember. ALWAYS Remember. Community isn’t a building. It isn’t 4 walls and a roof. Community is a group of people. Great, wonderful people. Build your communities and keep them strong. I will help in every and all the ways I know how because I love you all. And I mean that.
And you know I do.
Yes, I plan on opening a shop with some great people. However, there will be a lot of time until then. You need to keep it alive. YOU need to keep it going.
Teach your games to new players. Share your experiences. Do not forsake each-others wonderful company.
There’s tears in my eyes. I wont lie about it. I saw some strong men cry today, I saw some people break today. For a lot of people this is a shop. For a lot more people this place was somewhere you came to meet people who understood you. Who wanted to enjoy the same hobbies as you.
This was a safe place and I am absolutely honored I have been able to share that with you. To facilitate that for you. To lend an ear, a hand, some blood, sweat, and tears . . . and I’ll never stop.
Thank you. Thank you so much. So many people have been thanking me. I did my job, my duty, and fulfilled my obligation to the community to provide you camaraderie. I appreciate the thanks but I’d do it ten thousand times over.
Gaming saved my life. I don’t know how many times I’ve said it. Play it forward, my friends. Remember what Tramps did for your heart and soul. Play that forward and keep the hobbies alive.
It’s been absolutely wonderful. You, my customers and friends, made it an absolute joy to get up every morning and come to work. I can’t wait to do it again.
Thank you all.
